Welcome

West Hartsville Elementary School is located at 214 Clyde Road in Hartsville, SC.  Our school history starts in the early 1800’s and continues on today.  We serve approximately 200, fourth and fifth grade students.  We have a state of the art Science Lab and a Compass Computer Lab.  West Hartsville is also a TAP School (Teacher Advancement Program).  This means our teachers work closely together  in learning new classroom strategies. This allows our students to learn new material more effectively.   Please fill free to visit our school and see for yourself the great things that are happening at West Hartsville Elementary.  A school where students and faculty are Ready, Respectful, and Responsible!

Comer Pathway Books Donated

West Hartsville Elementary School would like to thank the following local area businesses for their support of the P.U.L.S.E. Comer Program that is funded by the Sonoco Products Foundation:
Anderson Brass Company
Norton Funeral Home
Burry Bookstore
Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home
These four businesses donated $300.00 so that West Hartsville Elementary School purchase books that support the Six Comer Develpmental Pathways.   Each book has a bookplate thanking the business and has been put into our Media Center Computer System so teachers, students, and parents may easily check the books out at any time.

Some examples of our new books that support the Six Comer Developmental Pathways are listed below:

  • Germs Make Me Sick” by Melven Berger-This book discusses the way a student can stay healthy by washing their hands and sneezing without spreading germs.  This book supports the Physical Developmental Pathway.
  • Heroes for My Son” by Brad Meltzer-This is a wonderful book that discusses the amazing things that some very famous people chose to do in order to reach their potential in life.  This book supports the Psychological Developmental Pathway.

A total of twenty-nine books were purchased with these genereous donations. We have an additional thirty books that we are trying to purchase to complete the reccommended Comer Pathway Reading List. If you are interested in helping West Hartsville Elementary School achieve this goal, please contact Bonnie L. Saleeby at 843-858-2373 or by e-mail at bonnies@darlington.k12.sc.us West Hartsville Elementary is the Best in the West, and we have a community that is AWESOME! Thank you for your support of the P.U.L.S.E. Comer Program and West Hartsville Elementary School.
